I HATE THE PO-PO
I am sorry but I officially hate the police. Yeah I say I hate them when they give me a traffic violation, but then I think well they are just doing their job. No they are not. Their job should not be traffic violations, it should be small crime and safety of the public.
I just saw the most recent episode of southpark. It was hilarious, Cartman had to tell the police how to do their job the modern way, like googling people and checking myspace and youtube for clues. I felt like this happened to me this week.
My Wista 45 rf was stolen out of my car a couple of weeks ago.
This is a rare camera and I knew that it would be hard for the perp to sell it. I tried to explain this to the detective in charge of my case, but he proceeded to do this thing that I just learned all cops and some public workers can do. They can look at you while you are telling them information, but they don't hear a word you say. It is pretty amazing. They can even do it on the phone! You say "my name is blah blah.." and they ask "what is your name?"...
and at while looking you in the eye at the station-
..."I found my camera for sale at a local consignment store". 45 seconds later- "Why are you here, is there new information on the case or something".
Its worse than talking to a computer. At least you only have to say it once to a computer.
Anyway, back to my camera. I was vigilant and kept checking craigslist, ebay, and the pawn shops.
finally two weeks later I found my camera. here is the link
The jackass who stole it took it to a consignment store to be sold on ebay.
OK so now I call the police and they will go get it.. not as easy as it sounds.
After 4 days, 10 phone calls, countless messages, one grumpy secretary and finally a personal, demanding visit to the police station, I was able to get a police officer to go get the camera which he says he will be returning to me next week.
So, I guess the cops are capable of doing their job, if you hold their hand and show them every step of the way.
P.S. I got a speeding ticket for going 35 in a 25 last week, the system to deal with this was flawless.
